This Day in Horror History - September 2nd

 This day, in 1978, George Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" was released theatrically.

"Dawn of the Dead" was shot over four months in Pittsburgh and Monroeville, Pa. Most notably, the Monroeville Mall. The budget was $650,000 and grossed $55 million worldwide. It was definitely a significant box office success for its time. Still a huge favorite, to date.

This day, in 1923, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" was released theatrically.

This film was Universal's "Super Jewel" in 1923, as it was their most successful silent film grossing over $3 million. The film elevated Lon Chaney into super stardom.
